Brookthorpe Lodge
At Brookthorpe our mission is to provide high quality support services to people with learning disabilities, mental health, and other social needs, which underpins our values and philosophy.
Brookthorpe Lodge is located just outside of Gloucester, and around 5 miles from Stroud, in a semi-rural location. It can accommodate up to 12 people over 3 floors. We have a regular bus route which will take you in to Gloucester, Stroud, and the heart of the Cotswolds. The home has several large communal areas which include a large TV lounge, a dining room, a conservatory which is a quiet area, ideal for reading, listening to music, playing board games, or simply enjoying the peace and quiet and beautiful views. We have a large kitchen with sufficient equipment provided to meet your culinary needs.
Each person who lives at Brookthorpe Lodge has their own bedroom with an en suite and on the first and second floor there is a small kitchenette that can be used, for the bedrooms on these floors.
We have a large garden to the side of the building which is enclosed and very peaceful on a summer’s day, we have plenty of space for growing plants and vegetables.
At Brookthorpe Lodge, staffing is provided based on an individual’s needs, therefore each day could have a different number of staff working. There is usually a staff member in the house during the day and always at night.
The individuals we support have access to a large range of activities these include: •
- Accessing local gyms, pubs, and restaurants
- Joining in coffee mornings, discos, and activity days through the Kingfisher Church
- We are working on our garden and have vegetable patches so we can produce some of our own vegetables.
- We go swimming, bowling and regularly visit the cinema.
- Social enterprises
- Jamat’s day centre
We also work with outside agencies to support individuals to access paid or voluntary employment. The staff at Brookthorpe Lodge also put-on in-house activities such as Bingo, Baking days, movie nights and pamper sessions, parties, and discos.
We hold regular house meetings with the individuals we support to discuss any changes they would like to happen, activities they would like to do and to get feedback on how they feel about the house.
Church Court
Church Court is service for adults with learning difficulties and mental health conditions, providing therapeutic environment, approach and support 24/7, 7 days a week, for individuals who need minimal support to those who need a significant amount. Our purpose is to provide individuals with holistic learning by role modelling positive relationships in the fields of arts, crafts, commerce, agriculture, nutrition, living skills and the environment.
The building itself is grade II listed and is located in the centre of Stroud town, where individuals have the opportunity to step out their front door and all the amenities are there to access. Stroud and surrounding areas are diverse and provide an abundance of arts, crafts, groups, markets, alternative therapies, social enterprise and much more. This location is ideal for individuals to make the steps to independence and reaching their potential.
The accommodation has a maximum capacity of 14 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, over 3 floors, with multiple entrances for those individuals who may be more independent or moving towards independence. The building is spacious without being overwhelming. Alongside the main kitchen there is a training kitchen on the second floor to enable individuals to learn cooking skills. The ground floor can accommodate individuals who may have mobility challenges. Our aim is to progress individuals onto placements in their own accommodation where they have the opportunity to take greater responsibility for themselves and less reliant on support. Our experienced staff team will work with each individual to undertake where possible work experience/social enterprise and transition back into the community, such as individuals moving from hospital environments.
Harrington House
Harrington House is a Georgian house, set approximately 1 mile, from the town centre of Cheltenham. It is also only a short work from local amenities such as the local post office, hairdressers, coffee shops, supermarkets and pubs. There is a bus stop directly outside, which has very regular buses to both Cheltenham town centre and Gloucester. The home manager is Stacey, who has over 13 years care experience, including over 2 years with Raynsford Care. She is very passionate about working with service users at Harrington House. She is currently working towards her level 5 in leadership and management.
At Harrington house we are committed to providing a high level of care to all individuals using our service, we thrive on encouraging and helping individuals to be independent, living their lives to their full potential. We enjoy doing many activities as a group, including going on outings, having BBQ’s, spending time playing board games and chatting. The people who live at Harrington House also like to do one to one activities, out in the community, these include swimming, orienteering and trampolining.
We have a very strong staff team, who have a vast amount of experience. Some of our staff have worked at Harrington house for over 16 years. Our staff are qualified from level 1 to 5 in health and social care. We have two senior, both who are working towards their level 3. The staff have experience in all areas of care working services from supporting with service users with learning disabilities, elderly care, supported living and service uses living with poor mental health. Harrington House is a home with 12 spacious rooms, including one self-sufficient flat. We have one large kitchen and one smaller kitchen, where food is prepared. There is also a large sitting room, dining room and conservatory, which are used for activities, relaxing and chatting.
Manchester Court
Manchester Court is a house in the centre of Cheltenham, between the Promenade and the high street, but away from the main thoroughfare of town.
There are 22 single rooms, in the house, with a shared lounge on each floor and a large sitting room and dining room on the ground floor. There are also small shared kitchens for people to use, as well as a large kitchen for the whole house.
People are supported to live at Manchester court, by a team of enthusiastic and dedicated staff, who will encourage people to live as independently as possible, while supporting them with anything that they may struggle with.
Steven who lives at Manchester court, describes it as;
“I came to live here at MC in 2017.
“Before I moved to Manchester Court in 2017, I was isolated in my own flat. I was nervous at first , but staff helped me. I needed help to get a social life and I needed support with other issues in my life. Staff at MC changed all of that and I have not looked back since then.
“I now feel open and alive and recharged I have my life back. Staff have helped me to get my confidence back. I am now able to go out and do the things I like independently, like shopping for computer games, my personal shopping etc.
“I can now do a lot for myself than I did when I first came here, ie bathing, dressing shaving etc, this makes me very happy and proud of myself because of what I have achieved.
“Staff at Manchester Court have helped me to get a mobility scooter, so I can go whenever I like meaning, I have got my social life back.
“Staff have also helped me to be financially independent to the point that I am now able to do online banking and they have helped me to start saving. Staff at Manchester Court are friendly, kind and caring people and I class them like my family. Staff are what makes this place tick.”
Raynsford House
Raynsford house is 5 story town house situated on the outskirts on Montpellier, Cheltenham and it has been open as a supported living property since 2002 housing many different individuals. It has 11 Occupant spaces, and each individual has their own private space decorated in their chosen style. The larger rooms are more like self-contained flats with shower, toilet, kitchen area and bedroom. The smaller rooms have kitchenettes within them some are just bedrooms, but everyone has the option to use the shared living spaces.
On the ground floor the shared living space consists of a large lounge diner where the individuals choose to sometimes share meals together around a table or watch TV. There is also a kitchen where house meals are cooked once a night and the individuals opt in or cook their own. A laundry room and the staff office and sleep in space. The house has two outdoor spaces one at the front of the house where outdoor sports or picnics are had with the large oval grass space which is great in the summer. There is the back space which is a tarmacked area with picnic benches and bright paintings on the wall.
According to the individuals that live here they feel it Is “homely and they are proud of their home with the staff team who are all friendly”. A house meal is cooked most evenings and the individuals have the opportunity to develop their independence skills helping with the cooking or a variety of tasks around the house.
The Maples
The Maples is a service set up for adults with Learning difficulties and mental health, providing a therapeutic environment for each individual to feel safe, supported and comfortable in their home. Our purpose is to provide individuals with support, guidance throughout day to day activities by role modelling positive relationships, promoting life long living skills with a realistic approach. We believe that building self-esteem and confidence can be the foundations of a happy person and therefore a happy home.
The building itself is located on Gloucester Road, in Cheltenham here the individuals can step out their front door and all the amenities are only a few minutes’ walk or bus ride away. Cheltenham and surrounding areas are diverse and provide an abundance of activities, cinema, shops, cafes, music and alternative therapies and much more. This location is ideal for individuals to make the steps to independence and reaching their potential as there is a train station a stones throw from The Maples that can gain access to Gloucester and Bristol and many other places.
The Maples’ maximum capacity is eleven bedrooms with en-suite each bedroom can be decorated in the occupants chosen style. Each bedroom has access to a toilet, shared bath and shower rooms, on each floor. The ground floor has a wet room with access to a sit-down shower. The two large communal living spaces are extremely cosey which allows space for those to move around the house without feeling too claustrophobic. The kitchen is large and has a cupboard space for each individual within the home. A large garden with some benches with lots of potential for a veggie patch and flower garden. The self -contained flat which makes up for the twelfth bedroom is situated on the top floor. The idea of the flat is that it offers a good introduction to independent living without the worry. The ground floor can accommodate individuals who may have mobility challenges, with ramps leading to the side of the house.
Our experienced staff team will work with each individual to promote where possible, activities, work experience, transition back into the community, health appointments and household tasks working together to build friendships in and out of the home. We achieve this by using the principles of outstanding support that is genuinely life enhancing. We value mutual respect, and we strive to understand all individuals differences and uniqueness.
The Mount
The property is set in 1.5 acres of informal gardens, surrounded by woodlands and offers 7 individual, large bedrooms; all offering views of the surrounding countryside.Access to the local bus service is a short walk away and public footpaths are reached immediately outside of the property.
The home is a spacious and warm, country home, with a large farm style kitchen and 3 separate sitting rooms. We meet the needs of a wide range of people and the staff team are trained to meet specific individual’s diagnosis.
We provide care and support for both men and women with learning disabilities. The people we support, actively participate in activities both in the home and the local and wider community. These include activities such as Horse riding, Drama groups, Singing groups, Swimming, Zumba, Disco events, Performing Arts and Music groups. Group activities within the home include rambling in local woodlands which make part of The Cotswold Way, planting and growing vegetables in the large garden and enjoying time in the garden on the swings and trampoline.
We have a stable and committed staff team, who have been supporting the people who live at the Mount, for many years. Their qualifications include nursing registrations, all hold the mandatory training certificates and the majority have level 2 and 3 diplomas in health and social care. Our Home Manager started working at the home nearly 5 years ago and has previously worked in many different settings, with varying service user groups and approaches. Our Senior Support Workers all hold a level 3 diploma in health and social care with leadership and are caring and conscientious. All staff are trained in the safe handling, storing and administration of medication, and training is reviewed and refreshed regularly.
The Tynings
This home provides care and support for six people, and is set within a large garden and surrounded by farmland. It has been refurbished to a high standard and offers six individual and large bedrooms with views of the surrounding countryside and with en-suite facilities.
The communal space includes 2 large sitting rooms, a conservatory and spacious dining area. This allows all the people we support, to have space to enjoy a quiet area for a chat, take part in activities, watch television or play a game.
The Home Manager is supported by a team of highly qualified and experienced staff, who have all been recruited for their positive attitudes and motivation. Staff are selected by interviews which involve the people who live at the Tynings.
The team continuously strive to aim to provide a safe, positive, happy and relaxed environment, encouraging the growth and development of the service users. The home is staffed 24 hours a day which includes a nighttime staff member. All the people we support, have a learning disability or other associated needs including mental health disorders. We ensure we follow a person-centred approach and the service is needs led. We as a home respect the services users Privacy, dignity, choice, independence and inclusion.
We focus on developing the people we support, to achieve their full potential and as much independence as possible. We continually seek out opportunities, which will make their lives complete and firmly within their control.
